Urban Chooks Workshops
If you are just starting out with a small flock of backyard hens, Barbara offers workshops covering the following:
- Breed – difference between light and heavy breeds and modern hybrids, with indications as to how to choose which may suit you best.
- Free range or permanent pen, or maybe a mobile 'chicken tractor'? What are the management system pros and cons?
- Dietary needs.
- Choosing a good healthy bird.
- Clipping wings.
- Pecking order.
- When things go wrong – illnesses and solutions for common problems.
- Hygiene.
The workshops are held at the Sustainable Living Centre,
